Alternative Designs
Alternative designs were created to compare various designs for the I-5 North Corridor San Elijo Lagoon. Two main alternative designs were taken into consideration for each of the following: the two-direction bridge segment travelling over San Elijo Lagoon (Main Bridge), a new pedestrian bridge added alongside the I-5 bridge segment over San Elijo Lagoon (Pedestrian Bridge), and the onramp and offramp for I-5 Northbound for Manchester Avenue (Overpass).

Impact Analysis
Optima’s primary objective in designing the Main Bridge was to avoid construction in the San Elijo Lagoon. The current project design involves the use of tied-arch bridges so that the final bridge will not have a supporting column in the lagoon. The project will comply with San Diego’s Planning and Development Services regulations. The impact analysis contains Greenroads, price, and constructbility analysis of the I-5 North Corridor San Elijo Lagoon.
